Presentation

I've included mounting and framing examples with each gallery image, to help illustrate the print as a ready to hang picture. I hope this helps your ideas on presentation.

Here is a brief explanation of the sizing information provided next to each gallery image and in more detail on the Product information page.

  • Size is the overall size of the print including the 6 mm/0.25 inch border you don't see when it's covered by the mount or frame rebate. All the gallery images are shown without this border so you only see what is visible inside the mount or frame.
  • Border is the area outside the image and includes the definition line and the titles.
  • Image area is the size of the image within the border.
  • Inner Mount Size is the inside cutting dimension for a window mount to enable it to overlay the print by 6 mm/0.25 inch.
  • Dimensions are all shown in both metric (mm) and imperial (inches)

Remember to ask your framer to include an acid free backing for the print.

Mounting and Framing

The easiest and most hands on approach to mounting and framing your print is probably to go to your local picture framer, where you can directly gain the benefit of their help and advice.

Alternatively, there are a number of internet framing services to choose from.
One of my favourites is The Picture Framing Experts
Gallery images can be saved to your PC for use as a sample on their web site to choose the frames and mounts for your prints.

I'm not affiliated to The Picture Framing Experts but offer the link to their site, in good faith, to help facilitate and enhance your shopping experience.

They provide a very large selection of moulding's and are organized to make your choice of products an easy and straightforward process.

When I first went to their site I found it very reassuring to be able to see how a print would look with various frames and mounts applied and even to see how the finished picture would look against a particular wall colour.

Since the advent of plastic glass a lot has been said about using it for picture glazing, not all complimentary; but using Acrylic really does have some advantages. It's light, unbreakable if the picture falls and when placed directly against a print, without an additional mount, it is unlikely to sweat and present moisture rings as can happen if you use glass.

A great service with plenty of help and advice which I hope you'll find enjoyable and useful.

The image below is an example of what you get when you use their system to illustrate your choice of mount and frame.
